"La Paz" Purification plant

The treatment is designed to remove iron and manganese in addition to suspended solids and consists of the following stages.

  • Chemical oxidation
  • A dose of sodium hypochlorite is added in a reaction tank until a residual of 1 ppm is reached.
  • Primary filtration
  • Water is filtered by Zeomedia 12-20 to remove total suspended solids down to 5 microns.
  • Secondary Filtration
  • The influent is filtered by Zeomedia 14-40 where the manganese and iron precipitate and adhere to the surface area of the zeolite, forming a film of manganese and iron oxide. The film allows the retention of dissolved iron and manganese particles.
  • Desalination by reverse osmosis
  • The water is then filtered through a reverse osmosis system to remove the remaining dissolved salts.
